The Collapse of The Irish Home Rule Party
By  1891 Parnell was dead, and the Home Rule Party was without a leader. The House of Lords defeated Gladstone’s second Home Rule Bill in 1892.  O'Connell and Parnell had been unable to change the constitutional position of Ireland from within the British political system.  The divisions created within Ireland and Britain remained unchanged.  With Home Rule defeated, and a split in the Irish Party, a new group gradually formed called the Irish Parliamentary Party.
